1st of a series of 3 videos filmed over a weekend to record one of the largest ships to berth at Felixstowe - this covers the Eugen Maersk's arrival.
When Eugen Maersk entered service in 2008 she was one of the world's largest ships - a 15,500 TEU Maersk E-class, 398 metres overall. She's since been overtaken by the CMA-CGM Marco Polo class, carrying up to 16.020 TEU although slightly shorter at 295 metres, and by Maersk Lines own Tripe-E class Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller, 399 metres longer, with a capacity of 18,270 TEU.
But Eugen Maersk is the first of this class to enter Felixstowe for some time, and it looks as if she's collecting some of the many empty Maersk containers which have built up at the port over past months, as imports have vastly outnumbered returned boxes.
