LASHING STATEMENT FOR ALL DOCKERS

International Dockworkers Council
The IDC was formed following the events in the Liverpool dock dispute in 1995. Our organisation was created with the aim to defend the rights, jurisdiction and jobs of dockers
Since then, our battle continues and we remain at the forefront of this defence. We remain vigilant against attacks on dockers and the attempts to deregulate the industry, campaigning for dockers to retain their traditional work within the ports as well as securing new jobs opening up from new technologies.
Lashing jobs represent a very high percentage of the port activity where we have representation. It is therefore unacceptable that there should be any loss of jobs and we will not only fight to defend the fundamental right of dockers to keep the lashing and securing of containers but will use any means necessary to retain and increase the activity levels and reclaim it whenever it has been taken away from dockers.
The IDC is organising campaigns in securing the lashing work for dockers in all the areas of influence of our organisation. We will also support other international initiatives organised for the same purpose to reclaim, increase and guarantee that all lashing jobs are performed by dockworkers.
