Dr. Meredith is the Group Managing Director of Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH), the ports arm of the Hutchison Whampoa group of companies. With over 30,000 employees worldwide, the HPH port network operates in 52 ports in 26 countries. Dr. Meredith holds senior management positions in other companies within HPH's worldwide operations.
A graduate of the University of Southampton and a Master Mariner, Dr. Meredith served over 16 years with a major liner company before joining the Hutchison Group in 1972. He is well known in the maritime industry and a pioneer in containerisation.
Dr. Meredith has received a number of awards and recognitions for his services to the international maritime industry and as a pioneer in containerisation. In August 2013 he was conferred the National Decoration of Grand Officer of the Order of Vasco Núñez de Balboa from the President of Panama and in June 2011 he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth II. Dr. Meredith was also awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree by The University of Western Ontario in March 2008.
Dr. Meredith is also the Deputy Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Hutchison Port Holdings Management Pte. Limited, the Trustee-Manager of HPH Trust.
Eric S.C. Ip
Deputy Group Managing Director
Mr. Ip is Deputy Group Managing Director of Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) and an Executive Director of Hutchison Port Holdings Management Pte. Limited, the Trustee-Manager of HPH Trust. He is also Chairman of Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT).
Mr. Ip has over 30 years of experience in the maritime industry. He joined Hongkong International Terminals (HIT) in 1993 as General Manager of Commercial and was promoted to Managing Director in 1998. His responsibilities soon expanded to cover YICT and he became Managing Director of the South China Division of the HPH Group in 2001. In 2003, Mr. Ip took on expanded duties as the CEO of SupplyLINE, the logistics business of the Group. In 2005, he was appointed to Executive Director on the Board of HPH and assumed the corporate role as Head of Commercial of HPH, while maintaining his responsibilities in the South China Division.
Mr. Ip graduated from Coventry University in the United Kingdom, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He is a member of the Hong Kong Port Development Council and Chairman of the Shipping & Port Operations Group of the Employers’ Federation of Hong Kong. He was the founding chairman (in 2000-2001) of the Hong Kong Container Terminal Operators Association.
