Update/travel: A14 westbound reopens more than four hours after two-vehicle crash between Trimley St Martin and Seven Hills

The A14 westbound has fully reopened after this morning’s crash involving a HGV and a van.
It took place at around 6.30 this morning between J59 for Trimley St Martin and J58 for the A12 at Seven Hills.
The HGV crashed through the central reservation causing “considerable damage to the barriers” according to a Suffolk police spokesman.
Recovery of the HGV has now finished and repairs made to the central reservation.
A diversion via Howlett Way, High Road and Felixstowe Road was in place for motorists wanting to travel westbound during the recovery operation.
The eastbound carriageway is also fully open after one lane was closed earlier to aid recovery.
The police spokesman also said the ambulance service attended the scene but have only dealt with minor injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision on the A14 at Levington this morning.
A slow-moving agricultural vehicle was under escort heading east along the dual carriageway around 6.30am when a lorry came up behind it and the driver lost control, going through the central barrier and into the path of a Mercedes Vito van heading west.
Fortunately no one was seriously hurt.
The road was closed near the Levington turn off while an investigation into what happened got underway at the scene, and the barrier was temporarily repaired for safety reasons, with diversions being put in place.  The A14 was re-opened around 10.40am.
Police are asking anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the collision, particularly in the moments before the crash, or the incident itself, to call PC Stephen Griggs at the roads policing unit at Suffolk Police headquarters by dialling 101.

  1. Useless lorry driver again! Sure the slow moving vehicle had yellow flashing lights and an escort also with flashing lights which he failed to see. Take his licence from him before he kills someone, luckily this time nobody got seriously hurt. Probably too busy reading a newspaper or rolling a cigarette
