Norway Dockers Dispute

I am posting this for Svein Lundeng

Thank you Lataya Dailey for making this resolution:

Resolution of support for MTAF Dockworkers illegally locked out in Mosjøen, Norway.

WHEREAS, 17 MTAF Dockworkers have been illegally locked out of their jobs by Alcoa and their subcontractor MIT (Grieg Logistics). The lockout started May 8th, 2014 after the Dockers of MTAF asked to be paid back wages for work already done.

WHEREAS, Rachel Berg, Alcoa’s HR Manager in Mosjøen threatened MTAF members in a letter with police and lawsuits if they return to Alcoa’s ISPS area.

WHEREAS, 41 people were arrested in Tromsø when dockworkers for the TLL held a sympathy strike to blockade the loading and unloading of ships by scabs.

WHEREAS, The Port Authority has gone along with Alcoa and MIT's illegal lockout ignoring International Law (ILO 137) for registered dockworkers.

WHEREAS, Industri Energi (IE), the union who took over MTAF jobs despite the fact that Industri Energi have no tradition or a collective bargaining agreement that covers Dockwork. Furthermore; loading and unloading of ships is protected by International Law (ILO 137) as belonging to registered dockworkers. Industri Energi and its chairman Leif Sande have chosen to sell out to Alcoa and Grieg Logistics, bow down to their masters and to make Scabs of themselves.

WHEREAS, The Mosjøen Port Authority has turned a blind eye to how Alcoa abuses ISPS to treat MTAF workers as terror threats.

WHEREAS, The politicians of Mosjøen city council and the Mayor have for the most part stood silent and watched this happen.

WHEREAS, Dockworkers and their supporters across Europe have rallied and held demonstrations against the attack on Dockworkers, collective agreements and workers’ rights.

WHEREAS, As members of the working class, we must stand together in all clashes between Labor and Employer, both foreign and domestic.

THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED, _______________________will support our Brothers and Sisters of the MTAF against Alcoa and MIT’s illegal lockout and attack on workers’ rights.

Be it through statements addressed to Alcoa, MIT, IE, The Port Authority and Mosjøen City Council condemning their roles or complacency in this illegal lockout which the MTAF members and their families are paying the price for. Or through physical or financial support to the Brothers and Sisters on the front line in Mosjøen, Norway.

END THE LOCKOUT, PAY THE DOCKERS!

AN INJURY TO ONE IS AN INJURY TO ALL!

Please send your message of support for the 17 locked out MTAF members to the people below.
