Haifa reports setting port productivity record - 74.7 moves per crane hour


THE Israeli Port of Haifa reported reaching a record output of 318.8 containers per ship hour and 74.7 containers per crane hour last week, reported American Shipper.


THE Israeli Port of Haifa reported reaching a record output of 318.8 containers per ship hour and 74.7 containers per crane hour last week, reported American Shipper.

Using six quay cranes at the Carmel Terminal while working on the 6,200-TEU ZIM Los Angeles, the crew on the G21 crane broke a port record for the number of containers moved by one single crane at 74.7 containers per crane hour. 

The average number of containers moved by one crane in 2015 is currently 30 containers per crane hour.

Haifa port's board of directors approved the purchase of two additional STS cranes and three gantry cranes for the terminal, which have already been ordered.

With a length of 700 metres and a depth of 15.5 metres, the Carmel Terminal currently utilises six super post-Panamax gantry cranes and 12 rail-mounted gantries.
