A recent video released by the world’s largest shipping company, Maersk Line, shows the company’s re-telling of the story of containerisation and how it came to transform global trade.
The shipping line talks of how turnaround times and procedures were refined once the shipping container was introduced and allowed the container to be transported in various ways, with ocean transport being the predominant method.
Global trade volumes have continued to soar since the 1970s, as more shipping lanes are now available for containerships to move their goods, which means that products can be transported to multiple locations in a short space of time.
