This afternoon a very serious accident took place at the Valencia port -Terminal Europe, during a roll on roll of operation. Our colleague Antonio Cortijo has passed away- For this reason terminals are closed until 2.
From the IDC we send our condolences to the family and friends of Antonio Cortijo. 


R.I.P brother - our world within the docks / ports is a very dangerous place to work. That is why we should have the correct salary and terms and conditions to reflect our job.

M. BONILLO | VALENCIA A man in his 50s died this afternoon at the Port of Valencia after suffering an accident, according to informed sources familiar with the facts to Levante-EMV. The incident took place around 17 pm, when the stevedore maneuvering in port facilities.

Apparently, the employee has died after being hit by a vehicle working in the operations of loading and unloading the ship Eurocargo Cagliari, which is moored in the harbor. So the place has moved a SAMU ambulance, but not do anything for his life, so it is awaiting a judge go to the crash site to survey the corpse.

Blueoceana Company is currently awaiting updates from friends at Valencia, but in the interim we’ve been made to understand that longshore worker Antonio Cortijo was fatally injured this afternoon while aboard the Ro-Ro vessel M/V EUROCARGO CAGLIARI (see photo below). Initial reports would have us believe that Sr. Cortijo was struck while between two mafis being moved into/out of stowage.
