A SURREAL EXPERIENCE on Prostneset In Tromsø,Norway.
Dockers and supporters blocked the terminal to Nor Lines in Tromso in the night from 11.30pm to 0130am feb 22-23. It was an experience that the 30 blockade guards likely will late forget. The company had blocked both ports and prevented the tourists in getting out their luggage, the quay was physically barred so a person in a wheelchair was prevented to get out, not to mention the three cars from a undertaker from retrieving chests aboard hurtigruta.
None of this the striking dockers would block. But Nor Lines would.
Their hope was probably to lay blame on blockade guards. It went badly.
Our industrial action has never prevented any passengers or their goods.
Not even when police asked Nor Lines to open the gates they were opened, not until it was almost too late.
Finally, just before the ship would leave, the luggage of tourists and caskets to funeral could be retrieved.
Nor Lines had to give in, and the striking dockers could sum up a successful blockade. Many had experienced who behaved in a proper way. Two hours surreal theater, directed by Nor Lines, ended and blockade guards could take overnight.

Striking dockers and sympathizers will until March 4th block all loading and unloading of goods from Hurtigruten when it is berthed in Tromso.
People from 44 different unions from across the country shows solidarity and support actions. They come from all kinds of professions.
