Container ship EMMA MAERSK anchored in Bay Brest, Brest, France, on Feb 11. Vessel according to local report, was waiting for weather to improve to dock in port. Judging from photos, EMMA MAERSK is in ballast, meaning that the vessel’s hull turned into a gigantic sail. It is not clear what exactly happened in the morning Feb 13, when strong wind battered the area. Either anchor dragged, or master decided not to take chances, and asked for pilot, to move offshore, in order to avoid possible accident. Vessel moved out of the bay in the morning and sailed offshore for several hours, returning to anchorage in the evening. Photo of EMMA MAERSK ON Brest road from Le Telegramme. letelegramme.fr
