Al Dahna port swing departure from Felixstowe Berth 8 2nd January 2017

UASC's Al Dahna sails from Felixstowe Berth 8 with a draft of 12.7 metres with the assistance of 3 tugs. Departing with 2 tugs in a moderate north westerly breeze would be a bit of a battle getting off Berth 8 and swing so 3 tugs were ordered, Svitzer Deben on centre lead aft, Svitzer Stanford on port quarter and Svitzer Shotley jost port of centre forward. After a small delay the three tugs pulled the Al Dahna off her berth towards the Guard bouy for a port swing to head out to her next port of call which is Rotterdam. Svitzer Shotley is relaeased from forward and moves alongside the port quarter as the Svitzer Stanford moves away from the port quarter back to the tug pontoon. As the Al Dahna is a staggering 400 metres long she has help from the Svitzer Deben by an in-direct tow around the 90° Beach End turn out of the harbour.
