APL Columbus 1st call to Felixstowe 18th June 2017

The APL Columbus makes her first call to the Port of Felixstowe. The Columbus was requested portside to Berth 6. Two Svitzer tugs were ordered for berthing and both were to make fast centre leads fore and aft. As she approached the harbour the first tug Svitzer Deben headed out to make fast centre lead aft. A short while later the Svitzer Sky.

The plan was to do a port swing and back up to the berth. As APL Columbus came around the 90deg Beach End the Sky made her approach to make fast centre lead forward. Further down the harbour the Svitzer Deben moves out on the starboard quarter while the Svitzer Sky move out on the port shoulder and began to swing her around.
Once swung the Deben pulled the stern towards the berth while the Sky got in position to push her alongside the berth. The Deben pushes up until she is made fast alongside berth 6.
