Container Logistics Specialist Pentalver Re-brands Following Acquisition

US Rail Group Now Has All Aspects of UK Intermodal Box Transport In Hand

UK – US – As we reported last monthGenesee & Wyoming Inc (G&W), a company which has developed in the past century from humble beginnings into a major international rail freight and intermodal cargo carrier, has completed its latest acquisition, that of UK container logistics specialist Pentalver. To anyone familiar with the Pentalver brand the change of ownership will today be obvious, with the new brand identity bearing the familiar orange and gold colours as opposed to Pentalver's favoured shades of blue. Pentalver has commenced re-branding its intermodal container terminals at each of the four major seaports of Felixstowe, Southampton, London Gateway and Tilbury, as well as at its Midlands terminal at Cannock, and its fleet of more than 150 trucks and vans that deliver containers to and from the terminals.

The changes also include the new look website and the artwork is based on G&W’s logo, originally created by celebrated American graphic designer Milton Glaser. Amongst his other creations are the iconic ‘I Love NY’ logo, the ‘60s psychedelic Bob Dylan silhouette poster, as well as promotional work for the hit US series Madmen. The new Pentalver logo carries the motto ‘Container Logistics’ bearing testament to the vast range of services the company offers from traditional roles such as storage and transport to the maintenance and repair of all types including reefer boxes and building of bespoke projects such as the famed Pentalver Tavern.

The purchase of Pentalver by G&W ties in nicely with the acquisition in 2015 of Freightliner, the UK’s largest rail maritime intermodal operator, which provides daily train service from the same key seaports served by Pentalver. G&W’s UK subsidiaries therefore now provide both rail and road transportation solutions, along with container storage options at the key UK deep water ports and inland. Pentalver Managing Director Chris Lawrenson commented:
“We’re excited to begin serving customers as a G&W-branded company. Amidst the changes that are structurally altering the global shipping industry, G&W shares our commitment to providing the safest, most reliable and efficient transportation services to the UK maritime intermodal market.”
