when are we going to see the big ships arrive? these small m s c ships should be the feeder ships for the vlcs that theberth was built for, it seems a bit of a white elephant at the moment.

It wasn't actually designed for the larger ships to come right away. Contracts need to be made, customers need to be attracted unlike down south where everything was existing.

L2, I believe was designed to accommodate the largest of ships in the future. It was built that way for future proofing. It is a future proofed terminal. However, people seem to think the future is right now.

Unfortunately, the news papers got hold of it and said 'LIVERPOOL GETTING HUGE SHIPS blah blah blah'. Also saying crap like 'why haven't we seen big ships yet RAH RAH' - why can they say that? Because both berths can handle those ships and people believe that because it can handle them, they're coming. lol

I dunno what operator is going to say 'right, they've just opened a deep water port there, let's change a few of our ships around right away!'

I believe a few operators have held back due to L2 'not proving itself' or having experience. These MSC feeders (MSC Suez and MSC Sophie) is a start in that direction. Once operators see this terminal can do the job, more will use it and maybe avoid Gladstone Lock to Seaforth. Especially with those new ACL G4s taking so long to navigate Seaforth and Gladstone.

Besides, L2 isn't even finished yet. It was opened in November as it can accommodate and work on ships, but it isn't at 100% capacity. I believe there's a new rail link opening too. Phase 2 (even though I heard on the vines that it maybe delayed. Unconfirmed!) has started.

Sink hole was a massive blunder (which I think is repaired now as the orange and white barriers are gone) that Peel should have handled better!

I don't much like Peel from their past actions, but I do want this L2 to work especially for the North West area. Just going to wait patiently
