My time as a Cadet on Emma Maersk

By

So, from my last post it seemed some people want more. So I decided to start from one end. The first vessel I went to as a Cadet, was the E class vessel Emma Mærsk. Some quick info about her. Build: 18th may 2006 Capacity: 14,770 TEU Length: 397 m (1,302 ft) Beam: 56 m (184 ft) Draught: 16.02 m (52.6 ft) Service speed: 25,5 knots
First we have the bridge. Quite an awesome sight the first time you come aboard. And just to put it into numbers: the bridge is 56,4 m wide and 50 meters above water (not 100% sure about the height. But the mast is 64 meters measured from bottom of the ship to the top of the mast.)
Picture of a standard Cadet cabin on Emma Maersk.
This one was the good one, because it was at the side of the accommodation. So you had a view of the ocean and not just of container.
Pictures from the ECR (Engine control room) The two first computers are normal computers that is hooked up to the ships server and you can use it as all the other. And all the rest of the screens shows information from different things in the engine room.
Switchboard also in the ECR.
The forecastle on the ship. All the winches can be worked from one of two stations in either port or starboard side. Anchors are also worked from the same spot. (Take note of the size of the anchor chain links)

The TOP of the main engine. It's 16 meters tall. For all the tech nerd. Then it is a Wärtsilä-Sulzer 14RTFLEX96-C that produces 80MW or 109.000 hp

We ran into some rough weather at the bay of Biscay. But because she is a very wide ship, then to rolling was not that bad. She also has small stabilizer fins that she can deploy to steady her even more.
Going through the Suez canal. It's an amazing trip and also seeing the desert on one side and all civilization.
Me after my first work day. It's very hard to be a first time cadet. Because I forgot to upload them with this batch. There is two links too cat tax for the long-ish post. http://imgur.com/7NHCQHH and http://imgur.com/SXrsDz9
